ADVICE ON HOW TO START A BLOG

I always get asked ' Why do you start a blog? How do I start a blog? Help I'm not sure what content to write about? ' When you first start blogging, yes it can be very, very scary, intimidating but fear not its actually better than it seems.

I was studying a Fashion and Clothing course back in 2010-2012 and in 2012 my first ever blog was born, it was called Move and Create, it was everything to do with my course. That shortly ended a few month after creating it, I was in a job and was due to start my Makeup Artistry course. I came back to blogging every now and then after this but I got back into blogging properly in 2015. I had missed it and I thought why not get back into something that I loved in the beginning.

I know that finding something to write about can be quite hard, believe me I have been there. I was lucky to have studied a fashion course and a makeup course, so I was able to write about two of my favourite passions, where as people find it quite difficult to find content to write about that they are happy with. Personally I think you should write about your passion, whether it be about beauty, fashion, sports, baking, cooking or even art. If you have a passion about geography, write about it, a passion for maths/science or technology you should write about it. My biggest piece of advice is to not write about something you don't like just for your work to 'fit in'. I wrote for years about both beauty and fashion but then all of a sudden beauty and fashion was all people would see, so for you to be unique and to stand out in your own way, my advice is:

* Be uninique

* Write about your own passions and not topics that 'will help you be seen' because you're more likely to be noticed for your individuality and not because you blend.

* Be organised - I wasn't organised in the beginning, I would just write willy nilly and about anything fashion related and for me it was a tad boring and then everyone brought the same content out. Try to plan when your posts are going live, do content that if you are a person wanted to find out the answer to a question , be that person with the answer that everyone wants to come to.

* Get up to date with your passion, know your terminology, know your trade/passion. Double check on facts, so you don't cause a stir because one piece of information is incorrect. I know to do this now, because when I first started in 2012 I wrote something about my pattern cutting lesson in college and I wrote some terminology terms down wrong with the wrong meaning by accident and I didn't pick up on it and it was an awful backlash.

* Be prepared for some criticism. Over the years, I have learned to grow a thick skin. This is because I used to get tied down with comments or with what people said about my work ect. Now I brush it off because if I stopped every time I got a negative comment, I probably never blog again.

* Choose a network to create your blog on that is easy to navigate / create in the beginning. I started off with Blogger and its my choice of network today and I couldn't change it. Its easy to navigate, easy to create a blog you want, its free. Its a super simple sight if you are just wanting to get started.

* Read up on information about blogging like follow links, seo terms. You can simply google each of the terms to find out what they mean. Most people haven't a clue when they first get into blogging what these terms are but once you know, you know.

*  Find your passion. Create content you would like to read.

I hope some of these tips will be super helpful for you all, if you want to ask any questions regarding this please let me know.
